2012 Tesla Model S

Maybe by the time this car comes out I will be able to afford the 50K sticker price (that’s after a $7500 tax credit).  FINALLY a hot electric car!  After talking with GM and a few other companies, Tesla has teamed up with Mercedes Benz.
The Model S will be Tesla’s second model, joining the Roadster sports car, with production slated for late 2011.
This car has 1160-mile, 220-mile, or 300-mile battery pack options.  A 375 volt AC induction air-cooled electric motor with variable frequency drive.  Output 248 peak horsepower (185kW) and 276 ft/lbs (375 nm) of torque.  Redline 14,000 rpm and goes 0 to 60 mph in under 4 seconds.  The battery life lasts five years or 100,000 miles and a charge lasts about 3.5 hours using the Tesla Motors High Power Connector (a 45-minute QuickCharge will be possible when connected to a 480V outlet).
